Nick

My dog Nick was so aggressive towards other dog's that we could not take him for walks for fear of being approached by other dogs, I simply could not handle him at the vet's office and was quiet embarrassed by his reaction to other animals. This was kind of our last effort short of restricting him to our home and yard . When I spoke with Tracy she was so positive with the possibility that this play group helping to socialize him that I attempted and brought him to the group one day. I was so surprised how well he adapted on the first day that I called everyone I knew. Today Nick rides the bus once a week and looks forward to going, he knows what day he is picked up and calmly waits at the window and recognizes the bus when it arrives, he comes home happy, hungry and ready for a nap-great exercise . I am no longer afraid to take him with me on walks or to the vet, he is much more comfortable with other dogs and it shows. Thank you Tracy!

Chance

Hi:

My name is Chance and my mom, Carolyn, sends me go to pooch play 2-3 times a week. I’m a three year old golden retriever.  My mom got me from the golden rescue group when I was eight months old. Tracy helped my mom train me on the first day I came to my forever home, I didn’t have a lot of friends and would growl the first time I met new people or other dogs.  I was one of the first to go to pooch play.  I get really excited when I hear the bus pull up in the driveway.  At pooch play, I get to see all my friends and play dog games with them   Mom likes it when I go, because I get so much exercise that all I want to do is sleep when I get home.  She likes knowing that I am having fun while she is working.  When mom has to travel, I stay at the K-9 clubhouse.  It’s much better then staying home alone.  It’s like going away to camp with lots of things to do.  Mom has noticed that my manners have improved, I don’t growl at people or other dogs and I have calmed down since going to pooch play.

Hope you will come and join us,

Chance and Carolyn Loew (mom)

  Dakota

Hi, my name is Dakota. I'm a handsome white German Shepherd. I'm a native of New Jersey and have the high energy level to prove it. My Mom dragged me and my little sister kitties across the country, closer to her homeland, the beautiful west coast. I love to go on walks, chase tennis balls and my sisters and pretty much wear mom out. Fortunately for me, my mom found Pooch Play. I patiently wait Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday  for my Bus to arrive. I know when it's close. I can hear all my friends, I get so excited!! I love all my friends at camp, I am Mr. Social and I always want to be included in the group and make sure I bark to let everyone know I'm there! On Monday and Friday, Tracy and Fran come over to walk me and when mom goes on her business trips, I get to stay and play at Pooch Play. They even come in and take care of my furry little sister kitties so they don't get too lonely. When I stay, I have a lovely, comfortable pen, I'm just so thrilled I am not all by myself. My mom is happy too and she says the best part is that she gets to relax because I'm so much more calm after play!

The first dog my husband and I adopted was a 2 year old rescued Doberman named Perry. He was great with people at home, but aggressive towards other animals of any sort and wary of people in public. When we had to put him down in August, we knew our next dog would be another Doberman, but this time we would get a puppy.

Omar came home with us when he was 10 weeks old. It was very important to me to socialize him to other animals and people. I wanted a Dobe I could take with me on walks, take into the pet shop, and bring him anywhere else dogs are allowed! I knew Omar needed regular interaction with other dogs if he was to end up a well socialized dog. One day I looked in the phone book and found out about Pooch Play. Omar has been attending once a week ever since!

Pooch Play has made ALL the difference in Omar. He is friendly with other dogs and people. When he is out in public, people can come up and pet him without him being weird (like Perry was). When he gets to meet dogs he is curious and enjoys sniffing, but if the other dog growls or barks, it really doesn’t seem to faze Omar at all. My last dog would have been ready to fight if another dog growled or barked at him – but Omar could care less! Beyond all that, it is just great for Omar to play with dogs once a week, since his sisters are kittens. And of course he is tired at the end of day – that is nice too!

Thank you Tracy and Fran. It is so wonderful to have a happy, friendly dog I can take around town and that I trust with other people and animals!

Hello My Name is ATHENA, I am a golden retriever and I am going to have my first Birthday at the end of May.

My Mom sends me to pooch play once a week so I can "be a dog" and socialize as I please.  (Mom tends to keep me from socializing with everyone when we go for walks on a leash.)  Mom met the Humans at Pooch Play, while needing their services for my big Brother.  I think it is really cool that I get to get on the big "dog" bus, while my brother has to stay home and protect the house.  That is the reason my mom tells brother he can't go, but I know it is because he is not very quiet while traveling in vehicles.  Not me,  I love it.  I also love my friends, the Hay Stacks and the pool we get to play with!.  I have so much fun I am ready for bed even before mom says I have to go to sleep.  As long as I mind my manners, and the humans at pooch play put in a good word, My Mom says I can keep going on the bus.

Lucky Me,
Athena

PS My mom says the Humans at pooch play "ROCK" and are the best in the valley!!  I agree!
